Nothern Exposure alright....
Well here's another one I can check off my list. Alsaka!
of course as a passing seaman, I could just look out to see a
but of white mountains, and take a taxi into town. Of course
in Dutch Harbor, a small town just for transport of
fish and crabs, there isn't much else. I asked the driver if
there was anything I should see, she laughed and said no mall or
movies. I ment, any thing unique in this area to see or tourist things.
She laughed as she dropped me off infront of a bar which was surrounded
by not much else.
After seeing a town dominiated by factory workers of mainly middle aged Filipinos,
like an idiot I decided to walk back to the ship. I thought it was more scenic, I could
stumbled into things, and soak up Alaska. Of course it was kinda cool for the
first 30 minutes. Then it got dark,
there the 5 minute drive seemed to be at least an hour walk,
and of course when the wind and snow picked up at the same time,
especially by the water, I was pretty sure at that point that the
sure the walk was not such a good idea. However,
made it alive to the ship, and jumped
straight for the hot shower. ...My Alaska snow trek story....check!
